Then $n$-simplices of the simplicial set $\operatorname{Ex}( \operatorname{N}_{\bullet }(\operatorname{\mathcal{C}}) )$ can be identified with functors from the partially ordered set $\operatorname{Chain}[n]$ into $\operatorname{\mathcal{C}}$ (see Proposition 1.3.3.1).
