Remark 11.5.0.40. Let $F: \operatorname{\mathcal{C}}\rightarrow \operatorname{\mathcal{D}}$ be a functor of $\infty $-categories, and let $\operatorname{\mathcal{C}}\star _{\operatorname{\mathcal{D}}} \operatorname{\mathcal{D}}$ denote the relative join of Construction 5.2.3.1. Then $F$ is dense if and only if the projection map $\operatorname{\mathcal{C}}\star _{\operatorname{\mathcal{D}}} \operatorname{\mathcal{D}}\rightarrow \operatorname{\mathcal{D}}$ is left Kan extended from $\operatorname{\mathcal{C}}$. See Proposition 7.3.2.11.
