Remark 8.5.1.20. Let $\operatorname{\mathcal{C}}$ be an $\infty $-category containing an object $X$. Then an object $Y \in \operatorname{\mathcal{C}}$ is a retract of $X$ (in the sense of Definition 8.5.1.1) if and only if there exists a retraction diagram which exhibits $Y$ as a retract of $X$ (in the sense of Definition 8.5.1.19).
